Ryanair appoints former chief pilot Ray Conway to oversee air safety

Ray Conway has been appointed as the Non-Executive Director overseeing Air Safety at Ryanair Holdings plc, effective from 1 October 2025.

He replaces Mike O’Brien in this role, bringing a wealth of experience from his long career in aviation, including 13 years with the Irish Air Corps and his tenure as Ryanair’s Chief Pilot. After retiring from Ryanair in 2020, Conway has provided consultancy services on operational and safety matters to several international airlines.

Ryanair Chairman Stan McCarthy expressed delight at Conway’s acceptance of the invitation to join the Board and highlighted his extensive aviation and safety experience. The Board anticipates working collaboratively with Conway as he advises on all issues relating to Air Safety in the coming years.
