Ryanair reported 8.2m passengers in February, half a million more passenegrs than Brussels airlines carry in a year.

It is a record February for the airline, almost double the figure for February 2014. February is always the weakest month in European aviation.

At this rate Ryanair wil increase their lead over the Lufthansa group as Europe’s largest airline. Ryanair’s January figures were 8.77m, those for Lufthansa 7.87m, IAG 6.69m and Air France/KLM 6.85m.

Full year traffic is forecast for 120m, up 13pc over the 106.4m customers carried in FY16.
