
SAS Scandinavian Airlines is recruiting a chief executive to set up and run the Irish head office of its newly registered Irish AOC. An Irish recruitment firm has been asked to fill the CE and up to 40 other positions.
SAS claims staffing costs 72pc more than the EU average and recently applied for an Irish air-operator certificate to allow SAS to register aircraft in Ireland with lower costs..
The airline has ordered 30 new Airbus A320 Neo aircraft, eight of which will be used at the two new bases.
The company plans to set up bases in London and in Spain to start late 2017 and early 2018. The aircraft will use existing SAS branding, with staffing and taxation handled in Dublin. Cabin crew will be hired locally at the two bases.
It has not yet decided upon a location for its Dublin office.
