Schiphol Airport proposes to freeze airline charges in 2026, forgoing a planned 5pc increase following a 41pc rise in 2025.
The decision aims to keep air travel affordable for airlines and passengers while maintaining investments in quality and safety. Schiphol is consulting with airlines to balance costs and encourage the use of quieter, cleaner aircraft.
A voluntary contribution from Schiphol will help prevent further charge increases in 2026. The airport’s focus on operational efficiency supports its ability to propose the charge freeze without compromising service.
Robert Carsouw shared: “We understand that the 2025 charge increase has a considerable impact on airlines flying to and from Schiphol. This increase is necessary to invest in quality and to encourage airlines to use their quietest aircraft.”
