SpiceJet is facing two new insolvency petitions in India’s National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT) from two Dublin based lessors Sabarmati Aviation and JetAir 17, both based on 32 Molesworth Street, claiming debts of $5m and $27m, respectively.
These petitions add to a growing list of creditors seeking recovery through NCLT proceedings, with past claims including sizable debts from other lessor companies.
During a recent hearing, SpiceJet’s legal counsel challenged one creditor’s standing and requested that the other submit documentation regarding the legitimacy of their claims.
The NCLT has scheduled further hearings for the pending cases on December 3, 2024, while SpiceJet has managed to settle several other claims recently.
