Tanya Airey and Donal Finn won the main prizes at the Travel Industry Gold Society opening outing of the season at Druids Glen Golf Club. The sun shone and spirits stayed high apart from a tiny drop of rain towards the end of play. Participants received tea coffee and scones plus welcome goody bags on arrival in the clubhouse before 10 lines headed out.
The course presented a challenge with some exceptionally demanding holes that tested everyone s skills and endurance. Rumour has it several golf balls may now rest at the bottom of Druids Glen s many water features.
After play the participants regrouped in the clubhouse for a dinner plenty of chat and the prize giving. John Galligan the captain welcomed everyone to TIGS and encouraged members to help re engage former members and to invite newer younger golfers to join at future outings. Prize winners included Tanya Airey with 29 pts in the ladies first prize Carol Anne O Neill with 25 pts in the ladies second prize Donal Finn with 37 pts in the mens first prize Oliver McCann with 34 pts in the mens second prize John Kinane with 34 pts in the mens third prize Donal Finn for nearest the pin in the men’s category Denise Fogarty for nearest the pin in the ladies category and Tom Collins with 31 pts for the guest prize.
