Visit Waterford announces finalists in the Dive Into Waterford photography competition

Visit Waterford has announced the finalists in the Dive Into Waterford photography competition, launched on May 1st, 2024, inviting visitors to share their photographic moments in Waterford over the summer. The finalists of the competition have been announced on September 3rd, with 30 images selected for public voting on the Visit Waterford Facebook page.

An exhibition titled #DiveIntoWaterford will open at Mount Congreve Gardens on September 20th for Culture Night, showcasing all the finalist images. The winning photograph will be chosen during the exhibition opening, and the event is open to the public for one week.

The exhibition will also be available online at VisitWaterford.comfor viewing. The winner of the competition will receive a prize that includes an overnight stay at Dooley’s Hotel in Waterford and a day out for themselves and three friends to explore Waterford’s attractions.

The competition attracted photographers such as Patrick Keneally, Tracey J, Sinead Whyte, and others, capturing the essence of Waterford’s rich heritage, landscape, and coastline. Chair of Visit Waterford, Sara Dolan, expressed delight at the response to the competition, praising the fantastic images submitted as a celebration of all that Waterford has to offer.

The 30 photographers include Patrick Keneally @SeekTheHistoric, Tracey J, @Lenshood_mishaps Sinead Whyte, Amy Louperdue, @LadyLory, Kevin Macalan, Peter Bijsterveld, F Quinlan, Dave N, Orlagh Reid, Conor Hale, O Davin, Kathy McPartland Wall, Lauren Hanley, Frank Quinlan, Tara Healy, Claire Dalton, Jim Hickey, Bob Jaques, Donovon Maria and Eoin O’Brien. Speaking about the competition and upcoming exhibition Chair of Visit Waterford Sara Dolan says, “There are some fantastic images of Waterford submitted; we wanted this to be a photographic celebration of all that Waterford has to offer from its rich heritage to its sublime landscape and stunning coastline and everyone who took part needed no direction on that, the images capture the essence of this fantastic county.
