A women’s bourbon society from Louisville, Kentucky has undertaken an eight-day journey along Ireland’s whiskey trail. The Whiskey Chicks group visited Slane Castle and Slane Distillery in the Boyne Valley. The visit included a tasting hosted by Alex Conyngham, the 9th Marquess Conyngham, and Master Brewer and Distiller Dr. Gearóid Cahill.

The group experienced an Irish whiskey tasting at Slane Distillery. The visit formed part of an eight-day itinerary across Ireland’s whiskey trail. The host previously spent five years working at Slane Distillery. The experience introduced international whiskey enthusiasts to the people, place, and story behind Slane Irish Whiskey.

Gary Byrne shared: Thirty guests from Kentucky. A sold-out eight-day tour of Ireland showcasing the very best of Irish whiskey, Irish food culture, Irish heritage and hospitality. And 70 people coming together to celebrate Irish whiskey and Kentucky bourbon. Last year, I approached Linda Ruffenach, founder of the Whisky Chicks, a women’s bourbon society based in Louisville, Kentucky, with an idea to create something special in Ireland for their members.

Last December, I travelled to Kentucky to present the tour. Ten months later, I’ve just finished hosting an incredible week of carefully curated experiences, sharing the stories, people and places that make Ireland so special. One of my proudest achievements was creating the Whisky Chicks × Women in Irish Whiskey event at Teeling Distillery, bringing together women from both sides of the Atlantic for an evening of networking, shared experiences and wonderful Irish food culture curated by the amazing Santina Kennedy. From developing the concept and curating the itinerary to building the partnerships and delivering the tour, seeing the guests’ reactions and the five-star reviews coming in has been incredibly rewarding.

This is what Ireland Whiskey Tours and Mint Julep Experiences are all about – creating exceptional, highly personalised experiences that bring together the very best of whiskey, culinary, culture and heritage. Built on local expertise, trusted relationships and access to extraordinary people and places, we deliver world class experiences every time.  A huge thank you to Linda, the Whisky Chicks guests who travelled to Ireland and all our fantastic trade partners who helped make it all happen.
