The Dublin Port-Tolka Estuary greenway is to open today, a 2.5km walking and cycling route connecting East Point Business Park to Dublin Port’s ferry terminals and providing public access to previously restricted areas.
Dublin council says that the greenway enhances cycling and walking safety around busy port roads with heavy truck traffic but also offers new views of Dublin Bay, including landmarks like Clontarf and Howth Head.
This initiative is part of a larger vision for “Port-City Integration,” aiming to transform Dublin Port into a public amenity, with future phases planned to extend the greenway further by 2026.
Fáilte Ireland plans to incorporate the greenway into the broader ‘Dublin Coastal Trail,’ catering to increased public interest in outdoor exploration and interaction with local culture since the pandemic.
