2024 figures show Belfast has Ireland’s fastest growing airports at 13pc

Belfast International Airport experienced a growth of 13pc last year, exceeding pre-pandemic levels by 7.3pc. The airport is now responsible for 13.4pc of the traffic to and from the island.

The comparative growth figures for the two Belfast airports are 13.047pc for Belfast City and 13.042pc for Belfast International.

Ryanair and EasyJet are in competition for the three busiest domestic routes: Stansted, Manchester, and Edinburgh, as well as five leading holiday destinations with Jet2 and TUI.

In 2024, holiday traffic accounted for over 1.4 million passengers and featured prominently in the airport’s top twenty routes.

EasyJet operates all of the top twenty routes out of Belfast International, establishing a strong presence in the airport’s operations.

The figures for 2024 show Dublin airport is responsible for 68.8pc of traffic to and from the island and the two Belfast airports responsible for 18.1pc with Cork at 6.2pc and Shannon at 4.2pc.
