Kenya Airways will begin flights from Gatwick to Nairobi starting in July, with a thrice-weekly evening schedule.
Flight KQ108 will depart Nairobi on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays, with arrivals at Gatwick occurring the next day.
The return flight, KQ109, will operate from Gatwick on Mondays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, bringing passengers to Nairobi later that same day.
The carrier currently runs daily flights from Nairobi to Heathrow and has a codeshare agreement with Virgin Atlantic for additional Caribbean connections. Back in 2016 Kenya Airways sold its Heathrow for a reported record sum of $75m to Oman Air, meaning it now leases slots from other carriers for its Heathrow service.
Allan Kilavuka, the CEO, stated that this new route marks the beginning of Kenya Airways’ expansion plans: “It provides a gateway for trade, tourism, education, business, leisure travel, and diaspora connections. We are excited to add Gatwick Airport to our expansive network as it means that KQ guests now have more options in and out of London and a convenient schedule that suits their travel preferences.”
