Ryanair has become the first European airline to carry 200m passengers in a single calendar year, beating a record set in the glory days of Aeroflot

The record was marked by 84-year-old Maria Cornelia Vos flying from Fuerteventura to Madrid.

The airline expects to conclude the year with two million more passengers than initially anticipated.

For next year, Ryanair’s projection is 206m passengers, slightly reduced due to delays in Boeing aircraft deliveries.
