ITA Airways has unveiled a special livery on one of its Airbus A320 aircraft to mark its role as the Official Airline Sponsor for the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games. The aircraft, registered EI-DSY, features artwork by Italian illustrator Emiliano Ponzi, integrating Olympic branding to serve as a flying ambassador for the event. This initiative aims to promote Italian pride and the spirit of the Games across the airline’s short- and medium-haul network. Shared in a written statement: “This aircraft symbolizes our pride in representing Italy on the world stage and supporting Milano Cortina 2026.”
The special livery was revealed in early February 2026, coinciding with preparations for the Winter Games’ opening ceremony in Italy. The design positions the aircraft as a key element in ITA Airways’ promotional efforts, blending aviation with the excitement of international sport. In addition to the aircraft repaint, the airline has introduced themed onboard experiences to enhance passenger engagement during the Games period. ITA Airways spokesperson shared: “This aircraft symbolizes our pride in representing Italy on the world stage and supporting Milano Cortina 2026.”
Complementing the aerial promotion, ITA Airways has launched SKYWAY, a temporary brand installation in Piazza San Carlo, Milan. This setup consists of two pavilions designed in the airline’s corporate colours, featuring white surfaces and natural wood elements inspired by alpine landscapes. One pavilion resembles an aircraft fuselage with window displays overlooking a stylised mountain environment, emphasising the connection between flight and the Winter Games’ setting.
The SKYWAY installation will remain open to the public until mid-March 2026, aiming to boost brand visibility and foster public interaction ahead of the Olympics. It incorporates elements of national identity, sport, and environmental awareness, aligning with the Games’ themes. This multifaceted approach underscores ITA Airways’ commitment to supporting the Milano Cortina 2026 event through innovative marketing and partnerships.
