Dundalk chamber hosts cross-border tourism conference in Carlingford

Dundalk Chamber has hosted a cross-border tourism conference in Carlingford that drew more than 200 attendees. 

The event took place at the Four Seasons Hotel on 15 April and focused on regional tourism collaboration. Stakeholders from tourism, business, culture, and local government attended sessions on cultural tourism, trails, tours, and digital marketing.

Paul Hayes and Mary Claire Cowley from An Táin Arts Theatre presented on creative partnerships in visitor experiences. Olivia McCormack from Louth County Council spoke about initiatives under Visit Louth. Gráinne O’Connor from Cuilcagh Lakelands Global Geopark discussed cross-border models based on shared heritage. Rory King from Rory’s Travel Club covered social media and email marketing strategies.

The conference included an exhibition with more than 20 local tourism and hospitality businesses such as Carlingford Oysters, Narrow Water Lodges, Carlingford Adventure Centre, and Dundalk Tourist Office. Dundalk Chamber CEO John McGahon shared “This conference showcased the strength of collaboration across our region and the enormous opportunity that exists when we work together on a cross-border basis. With over 200 people in attendance it is clear there is real momentum behind tourism in the North East and Dundalk Chamber is proud to play a leading role in driving that forward.” 

Dundalk Chamber President Hanna McDonnell shared “The scale and energy of this conference demonstrates just how strong our tourism offering is across the North East. There is a real appetite to work together tell our story and position this region as a must-visit destination on the island of Ireland. The conference reaffirmed Dundalk Chamber’s commitment to supporting tourism as a key economic driver while fostering partnerships that enhance the region’s profile both nationally and internationally.”
