Qatar soccer team transits through Dublin en route to World Cup

The Qatar soccer team has transitted through Dublin Airport en route to to Los Angeles as the transport hub prepares for up to 10,000 soccer fans to pass through its terminals during the FIFA World Cup in North America. 

The airport confirmed strong connectivity to host cities across the United States, Canada and Mexico. Passengers from the UK and Europe use Dublin as a hub for onward travel.

Dublin ranks among Europe’s top five airports for direct flights to North America. The facility offers US preclearance which completes immigration and customs checks before departure. Fans travel to venues that include New York, Boston, Dallas and Toronto.

The flow of passengers increased this week ahead of the tournament start on 11th June. Supporters from Scotland, England, the Netherlands, Spain and France transit through Dublin. Dublin Airport also handled the departure of the Qatar national squad.

Graeme McQueen shared “Ireland may not be competing at this summer’s World Cup, but Dublin Airport will still be helping fans get to the action.”
