St Canice’s Cathedral has invited visitors to take part in the Peace Doves art project this summer. Participants write messages of hope on paper doves for an installation that features over 10,000 doves from September 2026. British sculptor Peter Walker created the project.
The installation transforms the 13th-century cathedral interior with cascading doves above the crossing. It runs for eight weeks from 14 September and includes original music by David Harper and evening concerts. The cathedral welcomed over 60,000 visitors in 2025.
Reverend Stephen Farrell Dean of Ossory shared “Peace Doves allows our visitors and local communities to be part of this major art installation, which is only possible with the engagement of those who pass through the Cathedral doors. In these troubling times, Peace Doves will give voice to the hopes and wishes of thousands of people whose messages will soar above the crossing at St Canice’s Cathedral this September.”
