More than 4,000 visitors flocked to Naas Racecourse for the first day of the Taste of Kildare food and drink festival. The first day kicked off with an incredible turnout under glorious sunshine. Organisers from Into Kildare hailed the opening day crowd as part of their best festival yet. Attendance over the two days is expected to reach over 10,000 people.
Visitors enjoyed brilliant sunshine all day long. Top acts like the Newbridge Gospel Choir and Spring Break performed live. Top chefs held live cooking demonstrations on the main stage. Shuttles from Sallins Train Station kept queues minimal.
At a panel discussion on collaboration between food and tourism interests, Jacqui McNabb Head of Economic Development, Enterprise, Retail and Tourism at Kildare County Council. revealed details of the new food tourism hub in Athy. The council is currently preparing its new four year tourism strategy.
