AIB customers spent €248,000 in restaurants within a 2 kilometre radius of the stadium on the night, higher than any day in July or August. Pub spending reached €211,000, the second highest of the summer. This spend of €459,000 is confined to AIb customers, with other customers likely to contribute a like figure to the hospitality economy. More than 80,000 fans attended the event which drove record activity for nearby hospitality businesses.

Data compiled by AIB fromms of card transactions highlights a spike in localised pub and restaurant revenues as over 83,000 fans flooded the capital to watch the boxing legend defeat Flora Pili and retire as a three-time undisputed world champion. Restaurants within 2 kilometres of Croke Park recorded spending higher than any individual day throughout the peak summer months of July and August. Local bars saw €211,000 from AIB cardholders, making it the second-highest trading day of the summer, trailing only the All-Ireland Men’s Football Final weekend on 26 July.

Publicans reported packed venues operating at capacity until 2:00 AM. Over 100 separate bars and restaurants in the north inner city directly profited from the event footprint. The event was part of a larger commercial weekend that also benefited transport loop operators, local fuel service stations and city hotels. The event became a television broadcast hit, drawing a peak of 1.6m viewers on RTÉ.
