The Irish Air Corps’ Silver Swallows and the Royal Air Force’s Red Arrows have shared the skies in a formation display at RAF Waddington, marking what may be the first publicly documented joint flypast involving the two national aerobatic teams. The combined flight took place during RAF Waddington’s Friends and Families Day on 26 September 2026.

The Silver Swallows joined the Red Arrows for a combined flypast according to the RAF. The formation showcased the relationship between the Irish Air Corps and the Royal Air Force. Photographs released by the Defence Forces showed the red BAE Hawk jets of the Red Arrows flying alongside the Irish Air Corps’ PC-9M trainers.

The Silver Swallows display team was re-established in 2022 during the Air Corps Centenary celebrations. The team draws from instructors of the Flying Training School at Casement Aerodrome. The original team flew the Fouga Magister jet trainer and achieved recognition in 1997 at the Royal International Air Tattoo before being disbanded in 1998.
