- Spain expected to receive around 43m visitors between June and September
- Summer peak season represents 6pc increase from last year
- International tourists to contribute approximately €64bn
- Spain on track for 100m tourists in 2026
- Previous record was 96.8m foreign visitors in 2025
Spain is on course for a record year in tourism after what industry figures describe as the best summer in its history. Arrivals between June and September are expected to reach around 43m visitors. This summer peak season represents a 6pc increase compared to the same period last year.
International tourists are expected to contribute approximately €64bn to the Spanish economy during these four summer months, marking a 10pc increase from last year. Tourist spending growing faster than overall arrivals reflects Spain’s strategic push to attract higher-value tourism. Growth rates in tourist spending are surging faster in traditionally less-visited regions, helping to decentralise traffic away from congested holiday hotspots.
Tourism Minister Jordi Hereu confirmed that Spain is firmly on track to potentially host 100m international tourists across the entirety of 2026. This milestone would eclipse the previous all-time record of 96.8m foreign visitors recorded in 2025. Security and geopolitical stability in the Western Mediterranean have played a role in diverting summer travellers to Spain from other global destinations.
