Cork restaurant Nash 19, founded by Claire Nash in 1992, has closed permanently, resulting in the loss of 20 jobs.

The closure is due to soaring business costs, including energy costs, which have become uncontrollable.

Nash 19 had a successful Christmas but did not reopen after its post-Christmas break.

Liquidators have been appointed, and a creditor’s meeting is scheduled for next month.

Claire Nash is known for championing local food and producers and has been involved in various initiatives to support the city’s dining industry.

The closure of Nash 19 adds to the growing number of closures in the sector, prompting calls for government intervention to address the crisis.
