Revenue has sent 142 letters to influencers, including travel bloggers, “to educate them” about their tax obligations.
The letters are a warning that influencers need to properly account for their income, gifts, free goods and services, virtual currency, or token payments.
Revenue Commissioners treat influencers the same as anyone else in terms of tax rules and self-assessment requirements.
Revenue aims to educate influencers and encourage compliance with the tax system, particularly for those who may be young and unfamiliar with tax obligations.
