British Airways is reducing its Heathrow-Hong Kong service to a single daily rotation starting October 27, down from two flights a day currently and with much less capacity than in the past.
The Hong Kong service will be operated using a mix of Boeing 787-8 and 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft, with the latter featuring a first-class cabin while some have the new British Airways Club Suites configuration.
Historically, British Airways operated up to three daily 747-400 flights to Hong Kong, in addition to a daily A380 and daily 777-300ER, which provided much greater seating capacity on the route.Despite British Airways cutting back, Cathay Pacific continues to operate up to five daily Hong Kong-Heathrow flights using 777-300ER and A350 aircraft, with strong performance noted on long-haul routes to the United Kingdom and other destinations.
