ACI Europe has called for a “full and consistent” application of aircraft noise regulations in Europe, warning that Dublin Airport may face curtailed activities.
The airports group expressed concern over the disregard for legal processes regarding noise management in several EU member states, including Ireland, Belgium, and France, which may hinder passenger growth.
The European Commission has pointed out shortcomings in the Dutch plan for Schiphol Airport, which aims to cut annual flights from 500,000 to 478,000 while addressing noise for local residents.
The DAA seeks to replace the current numerical cap on night flights with an annual noise quota for Dublin Airport, proposing a limit of 13,000 flights between 11pm and 7am.
