Adare bypass to start: Here are the road projects included in the roads & greenways €412m grant scheme

The long awaited Adare bypass is among the roads prioritised in €500m funding for national roads and greenways in 2024.

Of this €412m is allocated for national road projects under construction or in development stages, with additional €33m for maintenance

Priorities include ensuring safety and maintenance of national road network, construction of by-passes for thriving communities.

The government has earmarked €2.9bn for safeguarding existing national roads over NDP lifetime, and €5.1bn for new projects until 2030.

Major national projects include N5 Ballaghaderreen to Scramoge, M28 Cork to Ringaskiddy, N25 Midleton to Youghal, N17 Knock to Collooney, and N4 Mullingar to Longford roads as well as by-passes and relief road schemes around towns like Adare, Virginia, Listowel, Ardee, and Foxford. The roads impacted:

  • N/M20 Cork to Limerick
  • N11/N25 Oilgate to Rosslare
  • N17 Knock to Collooney

  • N21 Abbeyfeale Relief Road
  • N21 Newcastle West Relief Road
  • N24 Cahir to Limerick Junction (including Tipperary Bypass)
  • N25 Midleton to Youghal (Castlemartyr and Killeagh Bypasses)
  • N3 Virginia Bypass
  • N4 Carrick on Shannon to Dromod
  • N4 Mullingar to Longford
  • N5 Ballaghaderreen to Scramoge
  • N52 Ardee Bypass
  • N58 Foxford Bypass
  • N6 Galway City Ring Road
  • N69 Listowel Bypass
  • N72/73 Mallow Relief Road
