Adventurous abroad – holiday makers more likely to try local food

Sixty per cent of holiday makers claim they are open to trying exotic foods like durian fruit, lion’s mane mushrooms, and sea urchin

Half of respondents become more adventurous with their food choices while on holiday, with 43% opting for local cuisine for breakfast

Another 30pc of participants would consider traveling for food, with popular choices including wild rice, raw fish, and fermented egg

A further 39pc consider themselves adventurous eaters and 82pc believe exciting food options make their meals more interesting; 65pc are more experimental with food than their parents’ generation.

The survey by OnePoll was commissioned by rice brand Tilda to celebrate its range of ready-to-heat rice flavours, including the newly launched Saag Aloo Rice and Garlic and Herb Rice.
