Aena’s Spanish airports have served 34.9m passengers in August 2026, representing a 4.7 pc year-on-year increase. Across the entire global network, which includes 46 airports and two heliports in Spain, 17 airports in Brazil, London Luton and Leeds Bradford, total passenger volume climbed 4.7 pc to 41.4m passengers for the month. Domestic and international traffic within Spain reached 225.5m passengers during the first eight months of 2026, a 4.1 pc increase compared to the same period in 2025.
Adolfo Suárez Madrid-Barajas remained the busiest hub, followed closely by Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat and Palma de Mallorca. Alicante-Elche Miguel Hernández Airport experienced exceptional surges, accommodating 2.3m travellers, nearly a 10 pc increase. London Luton Airport welcomed approximately 2m users in August, up 7.8 pc. Leeds Bradford Airport added 561,312 users, tracking a 3.2 pc rise. Congonhas Airport in São Paulo handled 2.1m monthly users, up 3.5 pc.
