Aer Lingus pilots have rejected an 8.5pc pay increase offered by a company tribunal, stating that it does not reflect the sacrifices made during the pandemic.
Members of the Irish Airline Pilots’ Association (Ialpa) voted overwhelmingly against the recommended 8.5pc pay increase over three years, with a reported 98.1pc of members rejecting it.
IALPA is seeking to negotiate a new pay deal with Aer Lingus management that would restore pre-pandemic pay, terms, and conditions.
Aer Lingus confirmed it was considering its next steps after being informed of the vote’s result by the union.
IALPA President Mark Tighe said Aer Lingus has not reversed the pay cuts and conditions introduced during the pandemic, despite strong recovery in the second half of last year, with bumper profits and expansion.
