
AerCap CEO Aengus Kelly has said he is exploring the potential demand for used aircraft from Russia if its market reopens.
In an investors call after the Dublin based lessor announced results, Aengus Kelly indicated that while there may be an eventual demand for sales, there are significant hurdles regarding insurance and approval from the US and EU due to ongoing sanctions.
Following the 2022 invasion of Ukraine, the leasing industry faced losses exceeding $8bn due to approximately 400 jets being confiscated in Russia.
AerCap reported higher earnings for 2024 and is seeing improvements in supply chain issues. The lessor ordered 118 new CFM LEAP jet engines in the fourth quarter of 2024.
