Air France-KLM carried 97.96m passengers in 2024, back to 94pc of pre-pandemic levels and up 4pc increase from 2023.

The airline reported an operating profit of €396m in the fourth quarter, notably exceeding analysts’ expectations of €205m.

Cost pressures continued to affect KLM, which experienced a €234m decrease in operating results, leading to a 3.3pc operating margin.

Full-year operating profit for the group fell by 6.4pc to €1.6bn, outperforming the €1.35bn forecast by analysts.

Operational and external challenges persisted in 2024, with ongoing issues related to staff costs and maintenance affecting profitability across European airlines.
