Air India has unveiled a new inflight safety video, titled ‘Safety Mudras’, featuring instructions delivered through Indian classical and folk dance forms.
Created by Shankar Mahadevan, Bharatbala, and Prasoon Joshi, the video showcases eight dance forms including Bharatnatyam, Bihu, Kathak, and Mohiniyattam, with each dance corresponding to a specific safety instruction.
Highlights include Bharatnatyam dancers illustrating seat belt and cabin baggage instructions, while Kathakali and Mohiniyattam express the prohibition of electronic gadgets and smoking against Kerala’s backwaters.
The project, which took six months and involved visits to various Indian locations, aims to provide a visual, musical, and emotional experience of India, initially onboard Air India’s A350 aircraft before being rolled out across the fleet.
