Air New Zealand and Cathay Pacific have successfully reauthorised their joint venture alliance for an additional five years, further enhancing travel connectivity between New Zealand and Hong Kong.
Initially launched in 2013, the partnership has facilitated increased capacity and tourism, with both airlines operating 18 weekly return services during peak months, including a seasonal route from Christchurch to Hong Kong.
Currently, both airlines run a daily flight between Hong Kong and Auckland, using Cathay Pacific’s three-class Airbus A350 and Air New Zealand’s three-class 787-9 Dreamliner aircraft.
Michael Williams, Air New Zealand’s chief transformation and alliances officer, emphasized the importance of the partnership in connecting New Zealanders to Asia and enhancing global accessibility, benefiting customers as both regions recover from the pandemic.
