Air New Zealand will suspend its Auckland – Chicago nonstop service from March 31 to October 25, 2024, citing challenges with the availability of serviceable Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 engines powering its Boeing 787 Dreamliner fleet.

Impacted customers will be rebooked on alternate US airport connections to reach their destination, with new itineraries automatically provided to those who booked directly with Air New Zealand.

Passengers can choose to receive a refund, credit, or confirm changes through their travel agent, as the airline addresses engine availability issues and maintains operations to other US and Canadian destinations. Air New Zealand also flies to Los Angeles, San Francisco, Houston, New York and Honolulu in the USA, as well as Vancouver in neighbouring Canada.
