airBaltic has announced it will cancel approximately 5pc of its planned flights for 2025, grounding several A220-300 aircraft due to Pratt & Whitney engine maintenance delays.

The airline will suspend 19 routes and reduce frequencies on 21 others, impacting flight connections from its main hub in Riga and affecting service from Vilnius, Tallinn, and Tampere.

Notable cancelled routes from Riga include flights to destinations such as Aberdeen, Belgrade, and Mykonos, with a total reduction of around 4,670 flights in the Summer 2025 schedule.

With only around half of its A220-300 fleet operational and a long-term partnership with Lufthansa Group in place, airBaltic faces challenges in maintaining its flight schedule and operational capacity throughout 2025.
