The 237th Killarney Regatta Festival, scheduled for 21 September 2025 at Killarney Golf and Fishing Club, cancelled due to forecasts of strong southwest winds, 55 km/h gusts and rain.
Rising shore levels made mooring and boat travel unsafe from boathouses; safety prioritised over the event. The end-of-season rowing disco and Regatta Queen selection proceed at Killarney Oaks Hotel on 25 October 2025 at 8pm, with €10 tickets via rowing clubs.
Rowing Heritage Day planned for October includes the Mixed Heritage Race and blessing of Flesk Rowing Club’s century-old boats ‘the Patricia’ and ‘the Deirdre’ on Lough Lein.
Last year’s Mixed Heritage Race winners, ‘Dinis Cottage’ crew including Mike ‘Kenmare’ O’Sullivan, John B Cronin, John Beazley, Kevin Tangney, Derry Doyle, Bill Lyne and Paschal Dower, defend their title.
Paddy Cronin shared: “Safety is our priority at all times. We wish to thank Killarney Golf and Fishing Club for their understanding, Cllr Martin Grady, the volunteers and suppliers for their cooperation, we appreciate all your help with keeping alive this unique Killarney traditional regatta.”
