A new Maldives resort, Amanolu in the Vaavu Atoll, will dedicate an entire island to wellness. The property will feature just 52 keys plus 16 private residences, each with its own island. The ultra-luxury hospitality brand Aman has officially named its anticipated debut property in the Maldives: Amanolu.
Designed by Kerry Hill Architects (KHA), the resort was slated to open in 2028 within the Vaavu Atoll. Its name blended the Sanskrit word for peace (Aman) with Olu, a nod to the native water lily that symbolises calm and renewal. Amanolu was masterplanned around an interconnected multi-island footprint, setting aside massive real estate for health, leisure, and privacy.
A dedicated wellness island featured a flagship Aman Spa and the brand’s ultra-private Spa Houses, offering comprehensive holistic wellness rituals. A second dedicated island focused entirely on recreation, exploration, diving, and watersports. The main resort footprint consisted of an intimate 52-key hotel. Beyond standard villas, the property offered 16 ultra-exclusive, five-bedroom Aman Residences. Every individual residence was built on its own private island and came complete with an 82-foot swimming pool, a private boat berth, and dedicated staff quarters.
