American Airlines has concluded partnership discussions with JetBlue Airways and is pursuing legal action for damages after the collapse of their Northeast Alliance.
Vice Chair Steve Johnson shared that while American sought to enhance its network, JetBlue’s focus shifted to other business priorities, preventing an agreement.
JetBlue’s CFO, Ursula Hurley, noted that while they have not received the lawsuit, they are working with American to settle outstanding financial matters.
The Northeast Alliance, initially approved by DOT in January 2021, was dissolved under the Biden administration in 2023.
JetBlue is undergoing a business transformation, engaging with multiple airlines for potential partnerships, with plans to announce a new alliance later in 2025.
