Fáilte Ireland and Údarás na Gaeltachta have announced €3m funding for the new ‘Árainn – Place of Stone Visitor Centre’ on Inis Mór, the largest Aran Island.

The visitor centre will be located in the former Aran Islands Heritage Centre and aims to create an immersive experience highlighting the island’s Irish language and cultural heritage.

Features of the centre will include interactive exhibits, a café, visitor orientation area, and changing facilities, designed to enhance visitor experience and extend the tourism season.

The centre is expected to serve as a cultural hub for both locals and tourists, offering year-round programming and events, with an additional €1m allocated for a similar project in Cléire, County Cork.
