The Argentinian and US governments have filed a claim against Venezuela at the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) over the closure of Venezuelan airspace to Argentinian-registered aircraft.

Venezuela closed its airspace in response to Argentina’s involvement in the seizure and scrapping of Emtrasur Cargo’s B747-300M, resulting in Aerolíneas Argentinas rerouting flights to avoid Venezuelan airspace.

Venezuela defends its actions, claiming violations of the Vienna Convention on the Law of Treaties by Argentina and the US, and stating that airspace closures will be lifted when the Argentinian government compensates Emtrasur for damages incurred.
