A €2.6m contract has been signed to develop a safe off-road route connecting Cork and Kinsale which councillors say will “provide a safe and easily accessible corridor for cyclists and pedestrians while preserving the natural beauty and cultural heritage of the area.”
Arup, a consulting firm, has been appointed as the technical designer overseeing all design phases of the project.
The project is funded by Transport Infrastructure Ireland and aims to create a scenic, off-road route that connects communities and promotes sustainable travel.
The first phase will focus on feasibility, route selection, public consultation, and eventually progressing to construction. The Cork City Viaduct Greenway will also be supported by this project.
