Atlantic Aviation Group (AAG) has announced the creation of 50 new jobs after securing a maintenance contract with a significant international airline, following a challenging year that saw a 68pc decline in pre-tax profits to €1.46m.

Despite the profit drop, AAG reported a 6pc increase in revenues from €95.3m to €101m, and the total number of employees rose from 652 to 703, with staff costs climbing from €37.82m to €44.5m.

The company, which acquired Lufthansa Technik Shannon in 2021, plans to establish a ninth heavy-base maintenance line in Shannon by Q1 2025, which will contribute to job growth, backed by a multi-year contract.

AAG directors highlighted ongoing challenges in the aviation sector post-COVID, particularly in the employment market, but noted growth in their defense segment and a successful recruitment drive for qualified technical resources.
