British Airways is reducing its long-haul network this winter due to ongoing delays in aircraft engine deliveries from Rolls-Royce.
The planned resumption of flights between Heathrow and Kuala Lumpur has been postponed to April 2025, and one of its twice-daily Heathrow-Doha services will be cut for the winter season.
The Gatwick-JFK route will be suspended from December 12 until the end of March 2025, following similar cuts by JetBlue on transatlantic flights.
BA has expressed disappointment about these changes and is working with Rolls-Royce to address the delivery delays, while ensuring affected passengers are accommodated on alternative flights.
British Airways has significantly cut capacity on select routes, including a 51pc reduction on the London Heathrow-Doha route and a 75pc reduction on the London Gatwick-New York JFK route, to provide customers with more certainty for their travel plans. A written statement shared: We’ve taken this action because we do not believe the issue will be solved quickly, and we want to offer our customers the certainty they deserve for their travel plan
