Bangkok returns to normal after earthquake, as tourists told to avoid Myanmar

The Tourism Authority of Thailand shared: Following yesterday’s earthquake (28th), the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) can report as of 29th March:

  • The situation in Bangkok has returned to normal
  • Businesses have resumed operations
  • Tourist attractions and shopping malls are open as usual
  • Planned festivals and events will go ahead as scheduled including upcoming Songkran (Thai New Year)
  • Assessments are still taking place across the city to ensure safety. 
  • Airports and transport systems have been assessed and are back in operation with minimal disruption.

The advice not to travel to Myanmar is unchanged. Mandalay airport remains closed.
