Over 110 guests enjoyed an evening of film, conversation and community at a special screening of MACHA at Bellinter House Hotel & Spa on Thursday evening, 13th August, hosted by Sheila O’Riordan, Founder and CEO of Irish hospitality group, Ardán Collective. MACHA has blended contemporary realism with ancient Irish mythology to explore the realities of living with endometriosis and a healthcare system that fails to listen. The Irish short film, written by and starring Niamh Mahony and directed by Shane Robinson, premiered at the Galway Film Fleadh in July 2026.

The film has followed Ana (Niamh Mahony), a woman left searching for answers after undergoing surgery for Endometriosis, only to find her pain dismissed by the healthcare system. Ana has drawn on the strength of the Irish Goddess of War and Fertility, Macha, while her father has struggled with the helplessness of watching someone he loves live with pain. According to MISE (Menstrual Information Specialising in Endometriosis), an educational programme which promotes awareness of menstruation and endometriosis in Irish schools, 1 in 10 females and an unquantified number of transgender and nonbinary individuals have endometriosis, with symptoms often starting in their teens.

Ardán Collective has contributed to the film by providing access to several distinctive locations across its collection of Irish properties. Bellinter House Hotel & Spa in Co. Meath served as a key filming location, with its striking wedding tree providing a defining visual setting for the film’s mythological sequences. Alongside Bellinter House, filming took place at other Ardán Collective properties including Marine Hotel Sutton and Ballagh House in Navan, with local Meath actors also contributing to the production. Following the screening, guests enjoyed a panel discussion with director Shane Robinson, producer Croía McDermott and writer and lead actor Niamh Mahony, chaired by Dermot Ryan from Alice PR. Kathleen King and Cate O’Connor from MISE completed the panel. The evening concluded with live jazz and finger food.
