Brisbane Airport (BNE) is set to implement its most significant upgrades to the International Terminal since its opening 29 years ago, driven by a government mandate for upgraded screening equipment by the end of 2025.

Security screening and passport control will be relocated from a windowless area on Level 3 to a light-filled atrium on Level 4, allowing for the installation of new CT scanners and upgraded equipment in the Domestic Terminal.

The revamp will mark the largest deployment of Rapiscan Systems in Southeast Asia, featuring new self-service check-in kiosks, a mezzanine for a baggage conveyor system, and an expansion of the duty-free area, which will nearly double in size.

The renovation is part of a broader $5 billion Future BNE transformation plan, including the development of a new Terminal 3, with sustainability measures integrated into the design, scheduled to be completed in phases by 2027.
