British Airways has introduced enhanced seating and service options on its transatlantic routes. The changes include upgraded premium economy cabins on selected aircraft to improve passenger comfort on long haul journeys.
The initiative responds to demand for higher quality travel experiences between England and North America.
This “step up” from standard economy includes enhanced seating, sustainable amenities, and improved dining services.
The enhanced seating features wider seats with greater recline, lumbar support, and adjustable head and footrests. Each seat is equipped with a personal entertainment system, noise-cancelling headphones, and its own power supply.
Passengers receive a new amenity kit made from recycled plastic bottles includes essentials like lip balm, socks, and an eye mask, two upgraded meals, a complimentary bar service, and a welcome drink (often prosecco, juice, or water) shortly after takeoff.
At the airport, passengers will have access to a dedicated check-in zone, which is typically quieter than economy, and priority boarding.
Travelers can upgrade their existing economy (World Traveller) tickets through several methods, provided there is availability: They can use Avios to upgrade by one cabin class. The cost is the difference in Avios between the two cabins, plus any additional taxes and surcharges. The lowest economy fares (classes Q, O, and G) are generally ineligible for Avios upgrades. Upgrades can also be purchased in advance via the Manage My Booking tool or sometimes at the airport check-in desk for a potentially lower last-minute rate.
On selected routes, BA allows passengers to submit a bid for a cabin upgrade before their flight
