Carlow gears up for this week’s arts festival, commencing Wednesday

Carlow Arts Festival Wednesday, June 5 to Sunday, June 9 is expected to attract up to 25,000 people with international artists from Italy, Spain and France

The festival offers 80 events including dance, literature, theatre, circus, and visual arts

The opening performance by Spanish artist Joan Català with other notable events including English circus company Gandini Juggling and indie-rock band Basht.

The highlight of the festival is First Light by Asylum Productions. Entertainment inside the O’Hara’s Big Top tent with Carlow Live & Local showcasing local music acts including Eric de Buitléir, Danny Carthy and Tumbling Dice. 

The annual Carnival of Collective Joy, which honours the imaginative spirit of school children throughout the county, will commence on Saturday, June 8, starting from Carlow College at 1:30pm.
