The Dunne family lost 5,000 turkeys cattle and sheep in a 2006 fire at Clonfert Farm in Maynooth Kildare.

The family restarted operations by opening the farm to the public in 2009 as a pet farm with 10 animal types. The site expanded to over 60 domestic and exotic animals including alpacas llamas meerkats lemurs and marmosets.

Facilities added three playgrounds a bouncy castle go-karts adventure golf and an indoor soft play area. The farm hosted events like Halloween Easter and Christmas while offering birthday parties and school tours.

Aoife McTernan shared “When their family farm caught fire in a freak accident in 2006, Aoife McTernan and her family were left starting from scratch.”
