Chris Martin, lead singer of Coldplay, is the latest to criticised Dublin hoteliers. On the first night of his concert series he delivered an on stage reprimand for hotels who raised room prices amid the band’s four sold-out shows at Croke Park.
During his comments, Martin expressed gratitude to everyone involved in organising the concert and noted the challenges of traveling to and from the venue.
“Thank you for the effort it takes to get to a show like this, and the pain in the arse it is to get here and get home…the crazy hotel prices, which is a bad thing. I’m going to have a word with someone about that.”
He shared an anecdote about his surprise appearance on Grafton Street to film a video for “We Pray,” recalling a previous visit when the street was mostly empty except for one person.
Martin also mentioned visiting Sheehan’s pub and was pleasantly surprised by the turnout when he returned to film, praising the Dublin crowd for making the video memorable.
