Colombia’s new ambassador to Ireland, Miguel Camilo Ruíz Blanco, officially inaugurated the country’s embassy residence in Bray Co Wicklow. The ceremony was attended by Francisco Coy, the deputy minister for Foreign Affairs of Colombia, who is on an official visit to Ireland along with Ambassador Ruíz Blanco.

Ambassador Ruíz Blanco took up his position on July 21, 2023, succeeding Patricia Otrtez. He has an educational background in Public Administration, having graduated from the Escuela Superior de Administración Pública (ESAP) and specialized in Public Finance from the same institution.

Ambassador Ruíz Blanco served as Ambassador to Austria and Permanent Representative to the United Nations in Vienna. He has also held positions such as Director of Multilateral Political Affairs, Alternate Permanent Representative of Colombia to the United Nations in New York, and Coordinator of Disarmament Affairs in the Division of Multilateral Political Affairs.

In recognition of his contributions, Ambassador Ruíz Blanco was awarded the Order of Francisco Morazán, in the Grand Cross Silver Plate grade, by the Government of the Republic of Honduras on November 20, 2008.
